My first boxer, Max, was the dearest dog I've ever known.  He was delivered into this world to my hands and passed peacefully to the Rainbow Bridge in my arms.

There was nothing more special in this world than to wake up with Max nestled in the crook of my body, to see him quiver with excitement over a "cookie", or to look in his brown eyes wide and intense at the start line of an agility competition.  There was also nothing more frustrating than watching him lag behind in the heel free exercise of the obedience ring :0), to fight him while grinding his toenails :0), and to retire him early and watch him deteriorate over the seven months after he was diagnosed with lymphosarcoma.

Max was forgiving, consistent, always pleasant, and completely courageous.  All qualities I wish I possessed every day.  He was my first boxer, the ring bearer in our wedding, and a constant companion.

His many titles, garnered quickly with high placings, speak volumes for his intelligence and drive.  Being ranked 5th in boxers nationally in Excellent A Standard and 7th in Open Jumpers for the year 2000, reflects the blue ribbons he brought home.  He passed away one leg shy of his Excellent Standard title and he so deserved that recognition.

Max has also gone to school with me where kids have draped all over him and asked him to do his tricks over and over again for cookies.  He has played the clown in team obedience competitions making everyone bust up with his "die" on recall after I would shoot him with my finger gun.

Max laid in my lap during bad days, corrected my mistakes in the ring, and never offered complaint.  To say he was special to me would be an understatement.  There is an emptiness in our home and in our heart.

   I love you, Buddha, always...
